At Marketing Buddah we have had the opportunity to work with, work on, and develop sites using most of the various popular CMS (content management systems) including Joomla, Drupal, ExpressionEngine, DotNetNuke, Magento, Shopify, etc, etc. But the one that we favor the most surprisingly is WordPress! One of our motto’s when it comes to online website design, development, and marketing is the KISS method (Keep It Simple Stupid) and that is exactly what WordPress does on the front end and the back end. WordPress started out as mainly a blogging platform but has evolved into something much more robust.
You don’t have to take our word for it just look at a couple sites that show CMS market shares:

Since WordPress is a open source platform developers are coming up with new plugins and tools just as fast as mobile app companies are coming up with new apps. While some companies may feel that there are advantages to using Drupal and Joomla we have not run across a company that could not utilize WordPress.
With that said there are situations like an eCommerce store where we recommend platforms that are not WordPress because why re-invent the wheel when there are platforms like BigCommerce that have all of the built in features needed to run an online store plus the support needed when you are running a shopping cart system.
